Today is a somber and reflective day in the history of our great Nation, as we remember the 2977 lives lost in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
We honor the memory of the heroic first responders and civilians who sacrificed their lives to help their fellow humans, and we grieve for their families and loved ones who experience their absence daily.
I encourage you to take time today to reflect and remember the lives lost and the devastation felt across the world. From the first moments of shock and fear to the aftermath and reality of what we experienced, our nation embraced one another in unity and solidarity, and we promised to live with hope, light and the promise of a world that is free of terror and hatred. Despite the division we are experiencing in our nation today, we must continue to plant the seeds of hope and humanity in all we do. I encourage you all to continue to care for your family and friends, yourselves and your fellow humans to honor those we lost on this day 19 years ago.
