Engineering Technologist II
Duration: 12 months
Location: Onsite - St. Petersburg, FL

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitor network operations daily, respond to vendor tickets, and support system outages and repairs.

  • Perform routine calculations of system uptime and generate detailed reports for stakeholders.

  • Support audits of session counts, usage, and billing across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Respond promptly to emergent charger issues, including on-demand repairs and replacements.

  • Assist with storm response efforts, including pre-storm planning and post-storm network restoration.

  • Provide technical expertise to evaluate contractor findings, troubleshoot electrical and network issues, and support vendor invoice processing.

  • Collaborate on budget development and vendor management to ensure project efficiency.

Required Skills:

  • Certified to work on 600-volt electrical equipment; licensed electrician preferred.

  • Experience in DC fast-charging (30 kW to 360 kW) systems, with DCFC EVSE repair and maintenance preferred.

  • Familiarity with EV charging standards (NEC Article 625, UL 2202, UL 2231, UL 1741).

  • Knowledge of CAN bus protocols, PLC systems, and diagnostic tools.

  • Strong electrical knowledge of AC/DC systems, inverters, rectifiers, and UPS systems.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting cellular modems and power supply systems (24V).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer), and vendor-specific OEM certifications (BTC Power, ABB Terra products).

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience supporting DC fast chargers.

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30 or NFPA 70E.

  • Background in storm response planning and network restoration.

  • Excellent communication skills for responding to driver inquiries, media, and regulatory bodies.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or related fields.

  • Prior experience in EV charging station repair, maintenance, or network support.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel primarily within Florida, including occasional overnight trips.

  • Valid EV vehicle provided for work-related travel.

  • Ability to handle emergent situations quickly and effectively.
